The largest religious group in Benin is Catholicism. Benin’s literature had a strong oral tradition, but that changed when French became the dominant language of the country. WebbBenin’s population is made up of over 40 different African ethnic groups, the largest of which are the Fon and Adja peoples, who account for 39.2% and 15% of the population respectively. As a result of this ethnic diversity, although French is the official language of Benin, many people will also speak their indigenous language.
