The problem of the subject-predicate distinction has featured centrally in much of modern philosophy of language and philosophical logic, and the distinction is taken as basic or fundamental in modern philosophical logic. WebBut to make a counterpoint to this, a decent amount of philosophy of language and other analytic philosophy involves discussion of systems of modal logic (possibility, knowledge, etc.) and while a typical first-order logic course won't go into that, the manner in which the system is defined and its metatheory elaborated transfers other to other logical systems.
