On that note, I don't recommend trimming 9mm cases by the thousands, it's just not worth it. Works fantastic for 223 though, which definitely needs trimmed especially 5.56 brass. I got to wondering if it is really necessary to deburr auto pistol cases after trimming. Given that you expand the case mouth and the expander mandrel should wipe the burr away an inside burr shouldn't be an issue with bullet seating. When you taper crimp, that should wipe any outside burr off.
WebSep 24, 2011 · Just one note although the 9 x 18 case is in between the 380 ACP and 9mm length wise the 9 x 18 fires a .365 dia. bullet where as the 380 and 9mm fire a .355 dia. bullet but you can resize and trim it to fit your 380 ACP. I make all my 9 x 18 brass for reformed and trimmed 9mm cases.
WebJan 29, 2024 · I'm a fairly new reloader. I do not trim any of my pistol brass. I load 9mm and .45 Auto and haven't had a case grow out of spec yet. I did load some 9mm brass 8x and it still met spec. I haven't tried this with .45 but my Bullseye buddies tell me not to worry about it. At best, escaping gasses seep through the action — and sometimes into the face of the shooter — when cracked cases are fired.
